A guide to the next generation consoles

Posted on September 30th, 2006. About Sports.

The new, next generation consoles are on their way and even if you have already grabbed your Xbox 360 (which is the only next - generation console available at the time) you still have a lot to learn about them since the Sony Play Station 3 and the Nintendo Wii are on their way. This is going to be a quick review guide of those 3 consoles but keep in mind that the final features of PS3 and Wii are not 100% certain yet.

Starting off with what’s already inside our homes, we will talk a little bit about the Xbox 360. From the outside, the 360 looks similar to the result of a merge of a Hummer and a Porsche; it has an aggressive, rough but at the same time very beautiful look and of course, your eye will never miss the beautiful, toxic green ‘X’ button. Talking about more important things now, the new Xbox is powered by a significantly powerful hardware. You can now play CD music or DVD’s with it and when you are tired of smashing enemies inside the latest blockbuster title you can always play games from the previous Xbox! Finally, your brand new Xbox will come along with a wireless controller, headphones, a HDD and a basic subscription to the Xbox Live service; all this at the price of 400$ (For the premium Xbox packet).

Jumping on the PS3 now, I can only say one word about this little machine, wow! This highly anticipated state of the art hi-tech device is expected to be released by November 17th, 2006. It features a new, innovative processor clocked at 3.2GHz with 7 cores, named Cell; this processor is the result of the cooperation among three giants in the field of electronics: Sony, IMB and Toshiba. Additionally, the new PS3 is equipped with an NVIDIA graphics card clocked at 550 MHz! Hang on a second; there’s at least one more thing that needs to be mentioned! The PS3 will be the only new generation console to feature a Blu-Ray drive! Sony appears to really be putting great effort on it and from what history has taught us, when Sony does its best, disappointment is not an option.

Finally, the last console to talk about is the one that we have the less info about, the Nintendo Wii. Wii will feature extended backwards compatibility for playing older games and it will also provide new game handling methods such as a remote controller. By the moment, all we know is that it’s going to be the cheapest of the three, somewhere around 250$ and if you would like to watch DVDs on it you will have to pay some extra bucks for an external device. Nintendo has always been one of the giants of the gaming industry; let’s just hope that this time they will not disappoint us.

Two Strategic Tactics In Using Articles To Build Web Traffic

Posted on September 30th, 2006. About Articles.

Everyone in the SEO industry is singing the praises of articles and using articles to build traffic to their website. However there are in fact two tactics you can use in creating articles to get you qualified traffic. One of the biggest issues that we have as website developers is the threat of duplicate webpages and being penalized for duplicate web content.

Essentially the problem with articles is that articles do in fact violate the search engine rules for duplicate data and the process of simply writing one article and submitting it to a few thousand article directories really does run the gauntlet with the search engines. Whilst to this point the search engines do not appear to have adjusted their algorithms regarding articles, I am sure that will happen in the future.

So you need to have a very clear strategy on how you are using articles in your traffic building strategies. Lets face it, you like me do not want to read the same material over and over again on the internet so when I am working with my clients we actually develop really careful strategies on how we are going to use articles and what the articles use is going to be.

When we write articles at our centre we do it for two reasons –

1. Write Articles to Build Qualified Incoming Traffic
2. Write Articles to Build Incoming Links

The best sort of links that will help influence your website traffic, are what are known as natural links. That is links where people link to you simply because they believe in what you have to offer. Articles provide a natural source of incoming links but there is a danger. In the future it is possible that Google, Yahoo or MSN may look at the pages where your incoming links are sitting and compare the information on those pages with others that contain incoming links to look for duplicate content. If any of the search engines ever do look at this then many of the bigger players overnight could loose their positions overnight simply because they have too many similar content pages on the Internet.

It is really important that you develop a very clear article strategy that involves building articles that help develop incoming links as well as writing articles that are specifically designed to bring in qualified traffic.

Tactic One – Use The Articles To Build Qualified Traffic

One of the steps I follow when we first start building an article strategy for our clients is to get them to write five unique articles and then submit them to the article directories. We wait for a number of weeks and then use the search engines to identify who actually picked them up. Quite often you will find that most of those that have been picked up are simply from the article directories. What you also want to do at this time is to look at your traffic logs on your website.

What you are looking for is those websites that are sending to you qualified web traffic without going through the search engines. That is, the people are reading the articles and then coming directly to your website. The websites that give you this sort of traffic are your most important clients because often what you will find is that the ratio of visitors to sales is very high because they have read your article, believe what you are saying and then decide to buy.

By using this strategy we then contact those websites that are sending us the traffic and offer to write articles that are unique for them in return for a natural incoming link for each article. Most websites will take this opportunity with open arms and for some of my clients this process has been incredibly lucrative.

The other reason these companies also choose to use the articles my clients write, is that we tend to write articles which are more focused on certain keywords. This helps the associate website with their search engine placement. We will often talk to the associate sites to find out which keywords they want for their articles and discuss their actual search engine traffic.

One of the other elements my team and customers also do is that we very rarely put the same article we provide to these clients on our own sites. In these cases what we do is to customize or rewrite the articles so that they cover a similar topic but are presented in a different form.

This leads me to our second tactic …

Tactic Two – Use the Articles To Build Back Links To Build Indirect Traffic

The second tactic is to simply write articles that everyone can use. The key to this tactic is to ensure that you use the author bio area with a lot of caution. Ensure that every article includes a minimum of two, preferably three incoming links to your website.

One of the issues every website owner needs to address is building incoming links not just to the main webpages or home page but more so to other webpages in your actual website. In fact you want to customize all of your pages to be incoming pages with their own keywords.

What we do at this point in time is to actually write the articles that go onto the website. They are customized and optimized for the appropriate keywords and then include the links, with the keywords in the hypertext of our distributed articles in the author bio section. This helps ensure that the search engines will look at the incoming links more favourably as the incoming links relate to pages that are being linked to.

This second tactic is different to the first tactic, as this one is about ranking you well in the search engines. In this case the path of traffic is –

Search Engine >>> Customised Article >>> Sales Page

Using this tactic to help build your websites, natural links do two things. The first element is that the more incoming natural links you get, the better you will rank in the search engines. Number two, the customized article will help prove to your customers that you know what you are talking about and this of course builds rapport. In fact what most advanced SEO strategists will do is to tell you to capture your visitors email addresses on the Customised Article. This also helps you to maintain contact.

Look the bottom line is this, articles are a fantastic and natural way to build your credibility with your visitors as well as natural incoming links however you do need to be very careful and have a very clear strategy as to what you want your articles to do. Too often people simply use hit and miss tactics for article development and in the long run this simply will not give you the outcomes you want.

Miscarriage: How to steer clear of spontaneous abortion

Posted on September 30th, 2006. About Women.

MISCARRIAGE IS SPONTANEOUS ABORTION

Miscarriage connotes abortion that is spontaneous. Abortion is the unintended pregnancy termination. Miscarriage, therefore, happens prior to the fetus becoming capable of carrying on independent life.

ASSESSING ABORTION

Forced termination of pregnancy is abortion. It may result in fetus death. Or, abortion can be accompanied by the death of the fetus.

CAUSES OF MISCARRIAGE

Spontaneous abortion or miscarriage can happen due to two main reasons. Spontaneous abortion can occur if the mothers possess such disorders or suffer such injuries that may hinder smooth pregnancies. Spontaneous abortion can also happen if the fetus fails to develop as it should be within the womb. Repeated instances of spontaneous abortion can hinder a woman from carrying forward pregnancies to terms in future.

TOXEMIA

Toxemia can also cause death of both the baby and the mother. This serious condition usually happens in some late pregnancy cases. Toxemia can degenerate into coma. There can be seizures. It may lead to even death. The symptoms are presence of protein in urine, excessive swelling (edema) leading to and rapid weight gain even up to 13 kg, and high blood pressure. If severe toxemia happens, then the doctors generally opt for immediate deliveries to save the child and the mother. However, toxemia gets cured automatically with birth.

FIFTH DISEASE

Fifth disease caused by parvovirus can also lead to miscarriages. Though it generally affects children, it can happen in adults too. Its effects are arthritis and joint pains. The most vulnerable adults are people suffering from sickle cell anemia. There can also be short-time failure of bone marrow.

MISCARRIAGE VERSUS INDUCED ABORTION

There is a vast difference between the connotations of the two terms: miscarriage (spontaneous abortion) and induced abortion. While the former happens naturally, the latter is carried out artificially. Induced abortions are brought on deliberately. In the clinics, induced abortions are generally done with due consent of the patient or her kin.

WHEN INDUCED ABORTION BECOMES NECESSARY

It becomes absolutely necessary and often has to be carried out emergently to save the life of the expectant mother. Often an induced abortion is carried out because the pregnancy is unwanted. Hence, induced abortion refers to that undesirable situation in the life of an expectant mother when the pregnancy has to be ended intentionally simply because the pregnancy may be life threatening to the mother or may be posing serious danger to the fetus or may be extremely precarious to both the mother and the fetus.

DRUG-INDUCED ABORTION & SURGICAL ABORTIONS

Such an abortion is also known as chemical or medical abortion. The advantages of such an abortion are that neither the procedure is invasive nor doe sit require any medical instruments or anesthesia. Moreover, drug-induced abortions can be carried out in any clinic unlike the surgical abortions which can be carried out only in a well-equipped operation room.

MIFEPRISTONE & CHEMICAL ABORTIONS

If chemical abortion is chosen as an alternative to surgical abortions in the first seven pregnancy weeks, then many doctors prescribe Mifepristone or RU-486 to the patients to induce abortions. Nonetheless, chemical abortions cannot be possible if the pregnancy has entered the seventh week. On the other hand, surgical abortions can be done faster. They are completed in two visits to the hospital and do not pose problems in future pregnancies.

WHEN DOES MISCARRIAGE TAKE PLACE?

Most of the miscarriages take place during the first three weeks of pregnancy. A few of the miscarriages also happen between the fourth to 12th weeks of pregnancies. Medical researches have ascertained that miscarriages account 15 per cent of approximately 15 per cent of all pregnancies. Studies have found that one-fourth of all pregnancies tend to abort automatically.

NATURAL TENDENCY TO MISCARRY

Some women have a natural tendency to miscarry. Such dysfunctions need urgent gynecological attention.

BEWARE OF REPEATED MISCARRIAGES

Repeated miscarriages jeopardize the chances or probabilities of future pregnancies transforming into successful childbirth instances.

MISCARRIAGE SYMPTOMS

The expectant mother’s kin must immediately consult the gynecologist if she complains of heavy bleeding from the vagina or suffers acute abdominal cramping. It has been found that intense vaginal bleeding is the most commonly complained symptom of threatened miscarriage. It can also be accompanied by sporadic excruciating pain.

IS VAGINAL BLEEDING DANGEROUS?

Not necessarily! One out of every four pregnant women has vaginal bleeding. But 50 per cent of them carry their pregnancies to the full term.

CAUSES OF MISCARRIAGE

Miscarriages cannot happen for only one or just a set of interrelated factors. It can happen due to many reasons.
However, 50 per cent of the miscarriages have been attributed to either or both the unnatural development of the placental issue or of the embryo. These abnormalities can be due to three main reasons. They can happen due to the faulty sperm or egg cells (germ cells).
Another cause may be because of defective budding of the fertilized egg. Besides, other maternal problems can also lead to miscarriages. The primary ones are psychological shocks including acute trauma or/and anxiety, diabetes and other systemic diseases like those of the kidney (nephritis). Premature expulsion of the fetus can take place also due to malfunctions of the uterine tract or portions besides tumors.

WHAT HAPPENS IN MISCARRIAGE?

When miscarriages happen, any of the following may happen: There may be a missed abortion. In such a state, the dead embryo can remain in the uterus for months on end. Some miscarriages may expel the entire or a part of the fetus. More often than not, gynecologists go for removal of the residual placental or embryonic tissue through surgeries. Such a procedure obviates the chances of uterine lining infection or its infection.

MISCARRIAGE TREATMENT

The generally prescribed treatment to avert threatened miscarriages is bed rest. In cases of repeated miscarriages, total bed rest for the entire pregnancy term becomes indispensable. Often, hormone and vitamin therapy is also suggested. In extreme cases, the patient may even have to undergo surgeries to correct the uterine abnormalities.

SEX HORMONE/ SYNTHETIC ESTROGEN

Sex hormone or synthetic estrogen is also known as DES or Diethylstilbestrol. Produced in 1938, it was widely used before 1970 in the USA to check miscarriages. But in 1970, researchers found that sex hormone taken by women before their 18th weeks of pregnancies had serious effects on their fetuses. It was discovered that particularly the female fetuses were prone to develop vaginal cancer. However, DES is still used widely to treat some cancer forms in both the sexes and also to correct some gynecological malfunctions.

Notre Dame- Penn State Will Get Good Two Way Action!

Posted on September 29th, 2006. About Sports.

Last week leading up to the opening game between Notre Dame and Georgia Tech, I thought that with all the praise being heaped on Charlie Weiss and his troops, they might as well hand him the BCS Championship trophy. I mean, the way things were going Weiss and his QB Quinn may have been elected President and Vice President of the United States had they run for office.

As is usually the case, the hype was unwarranted as the sports betting action was on Georgia Tech and the under, as Notre Dame barely escaped Georgia with a 14-10 victory. Meanwhile in Happy Valley, Joe Pa’s latest squad hosted Akron and their new quarterback shone.

Junior QB Anthony Morelli made his first collegiate start last week against Akron and it couldn’t have gone better for the young signal-caller. Morelli, who took over for Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year Michael Robinson, completed his first pass of the game for a 42-yard touchdown.

Morelli completed 50 percent of his passes in the afternoon, for 206 yards, with three TDs and no interceptions. Fellow sophomore Derrick Williams is regarded as one of the nation’s dangerous threats with the ball and returned from a 2005 injury- plagued season by catching three balls, including a TD.

In all, Williams had 116 all-purpose yards and certainly needs to be accounted for by any defense facing the Nittany Lions. Fellow wideout Jordan Norwood led all receivers with a career-high seven receptions for 61 yards and a score.

The Penn State defense was awesome last year, but only welcomed back 4 starters from that squad. Yet they acquitted themselves nicely against the Zips. They had 5 sacks and created 3 turnovers against a very talented MAC squad.

On the other hand, Notre Dame was really up against it with all the publicity and facing a very talented Georgia Tech team. Against the Yellow Jackets, Quinn threw for 246 yards and no TDs, but was responsible for the team’s first score with a five-yard TD scamper late in the first half to start the Irish on the way to victory.

Wideout Rhema McKnight is a welcome addition to the receiving corps after missing most of last year due to injury. He paid immediate dividends against Tech hauling in five balls for 108 yards.

All-American Jeff Samardzija caught six balls for 74 yards and teams with McKnight to give the Irish a pair of dangerous targets downfield. The passing attack will certainly open up if tailback Darius Walker continues to run as hard as he did against the Yellow Jackets. Walker toted the ball 22 times for 99 yards and one TD against a stout GT defense.

As a whole, the defense relinquished just 259 yards of total offense and although the team yielded 119 yards on the ground, a lot of that was from QB Reggie Ball, who abandoned the pocket often in leading his team in rushing (55 yards).

Now that the football betting public has been burned by the Fighting Irish, the linemakers at my favorite sportsbook have hung up a very attractive line of ND -8. Penn State and their legendary coach are huge favorites across the country and getting a touchdown plus will have many a gambler jumping on the dog.

On the other hand, ND is at home and they played a far tougher team in GT. That sort of competition will allow them to pour if on the Nittany Lions this weekend.

I love the home side!

Writing Articles - The Reasons

Posted on September 29th, 2006. About Articles.

The first is for direct and immediate profit. In other words, you write the article and someone pays you for it. At this pint, you lose all rights to what you have written, so don’t imagine that you can regurgitate even one sentence and re-use it. Of course, you still have the knowledge and are free to continue writing and publishing on the same subject. Just make sure that the content isn’t recognisable and that you don’t inadvertently use an identical complex sentence to one which was in the article that you sold.

The second reason for writing articles is to attract visitors to your website and/or to purchase your product for longer term profit. In this instance, you can’t sell your article because to need it to carry your name and your business details and web address, not somebody else’s. You retain the rights and can do what you like with your masterpiece, but you will probably choose one or several of the following.

- Publish on your own website but use your blog or newsletter to tell people where to find your article. If you “ping” your blog, certain search engines will be updated and others will detect of their own accord that your site has new, original content and will send their spiders along to index it.

- Publish in an ezine. Many ezine owners are looking for content and may agree to a swap, otherwise you may have to pay for your article to appear. However, if you choose the ezine carefully, it can be well worth the expenditure.

- Publish in an article directory. This may well lead to other websites using your work for content or distribution via RSS feeds. Each time your article appears, so will your link, attracting even more visitors to your site or product.

If you join MPAM and follow the 20 Steps course, you will learn about all of the above. The course lays out a detailed plan for the successful creation and population of a content-rich, search engine friendly website. In addition, there is the opportunity to at least cover the cost of your membership by writing articles for sale to MPAM as well as many other income streams and extensive training.

Whatever your reasons for writing articles and wherever they end up, before you start to scribble or tap away at the keyboard, there are a few basic things that you will need to know.

A good standard of English grammar and spelling is required. Without that, your articles will remain unread and other than on your own website, where you can do what you like, unpublished. The major article directories check spelling and grammar quite carefully and will reject out of hand, articles which are not of a sufficiently high quality.

Original, informative content is a must. It’s worth doing some research to find out what the internet population are interested in before you even start.

A well-structured, cohesive piece of writing is necessary. There’s nothing more likely to lose your readers’ attention than muddled or contradictory ramblings.

If you would like detailed tips about the dos and don’ts of article writing, then watch this space, there will be more coming soon.

Lip sticks – a woman’s Craze

Posted on September 29th, 2006. About Women.

Lipstick happens to be one of the basic Cosmetic of a Woman. Most of the Women of today cannot live without it, and such is the craze they have for this piece of stick that adds color to their face.
We learn that the Lipstick is in existence from the ancient days of the Egyptian Civilization and there are references pointing out that Cleopatra used a special kind of beetles to color her beautiful Lips to deep red. She felt that her lips’ colors attracted her lovers more.
In the ancient times the women from the Royal families, Nobles, and people from rich and affluent families alone were using the Lipsticks. But from the last Century the sense of beauty began striking among the women of ordinary families also and the habit of using the lipsticks virtually exploded. Nowadays it is very rare to find a woman who is not using it.
The Spread of the Western culture and the influence of the Films increased on the People in general and the habits used in them though never used before began to be tested by the common people and thus the habits like using of Lipsticks became widespread. This was further spread by the Lipstick manufacturers who for their own good saw to it that the using of Lipstick was made as much as possible.
In the olden days of the 18th Century, lipstick and make- up were used mainly by those women who have to lure and attract men. As days passed by women belonging to respectable families also began using Lipstick and today it is a universal phenomenon and has become an inseparable part of a Woman.
For a woman of the Present day the lipstick is one of her essentials in her life and without which she cannot venture out of her house without remorse. They always want to look neat and clean with their make- up and without the Lipstick the make- up can never said to be complete. Thus the lipstick is an integral part of a woman’s life.
In Modern days the Lipstick is made of Wax taken from bees wax or form the plants and trees, added with oils like Olive Oil, Castor Oil etc. The color of a Lipstick comes from various coloring stuff like chemical or natural dyes.
A Lipstick is a commonly used make- up item that is both cheap and lasts longer. Hence most of the women have a full range of Lipsticks to match for any occasion and also to match any outfit they may wear.

Lipstick is an inseparable item in woman’s wardrobe and their craze for this little item is ever expanding.

What to do if you are struggling with your woods.

Posted on September 28th, 2006. About Sports.

There are a lot of golfers who struggle with the woods. When I say woods I mean both the driver and fairway woods. The reasons that golfers struggle with their woods can be due to many things. It could be that the ball is placed incorrectly in the stance, it could be that you are not transferring your weight correctly, it could be something in your swing etc.

If you are a golfer who is currently struggling with your woods, be this slicing, pulling, topping, fatting etc then there is no reason to lose heart. The first thing to do is to book a lesson with your local PGA pro so that he/she can analyze the problem and give you valuable advice as to what the problem may be and how to rectify the issue. Practice as often as you can at your practice are or driving range and before long you will be hitting them sweetly again.

On the golf course though if you are struggling with your woods then this could be causing you to lose shots, lose confidence and in extreme circumstance cause you to give up this wonderful sport. Many beginners to the game find it hard to hit drivers, fairway woods and long irons, this is normal as beginners tend to try to hit the ball rather than swing the club through the ball, with a driver, fairway wood and long iron this is hard to do and can end up being a pull, slice, topped shot etc.

If you are a golfer who is struggling then why not leave your fairway woods and driver at home and play with just your irons. Sounds strange doesnt it but if you think about it you should be able to reach most of the green in regulation or at worst one over regulation. For example you are on a par five which is 500 yards long, you know that you can hit your six iron 160 yards and your 5 iron 170 yards so hit your five iron off the tee, then off the fairway hit your six iron leaving you another six iron to the green, two putt and walk off with a par.

Hitting an iron is a lot easier than hitting a driver, you should be able to hit your ball more accurately. Granted there is nothing as satisfying as hitting your driver down the middle of the fairway but if you dont know if it is going to go left or right then what is the point in hitting it. If you play the game with your mind using your irons as much as possible then you should be able to get some good scores, build your confidence and still enjoy the game whilst you are working on the issues with your woods.

If long irons are an issue as well as your woods then maybe you could try a hybrid wood from your local golf shop, these are designed to replace the long irons and are much easier to hit.

Of course you can still use your woods on a practice round which will help you to work out what is wrong or work on the drills which your pro has given to you, but during a competitive round, or even a practice round if your shots are getting you frustrated then pull out an iron and play if off the tee.

The biggest bit of advice that I can give is to sat ‘dont worry about it’. If you worry about it then you will become frustrated which will cause you to tense which in turn will cause a bad shot which will get you more frustrated - can you spot the circle which happens here. There is nothing to be embarassed about if you decide to take an iron from the tee. Have a look at your golfing partners face when you birdie that hole after teeing off with an iron.

Four Reasons To Learn German

Posted on September 28th, 2006. About Articles.

What A German Language School Can Do For You
German is not always the first choice for people looking to learn a foreign language. But maybe it should be. German is spoken by more than 100 million people in 38 countries around the world. Most of the world’s German speakers are in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, but there are also significant numbers of German speakers in the United States and South America. That’s a lot of German speakers, and a lot of reasons to learn German. Here are five reasons to consider attending a German language school.

1. Learn German For Business
Germany is the third largest industrial nation in the world and a major exporter. Learning German will help business people to improve their prospects of doing business in German-speaking countries. And while it may be true that many Germans speak English as well as, if not better than, many native English speakers, those who learn German will have the advantage of understanding what is said in its original context. Many German language schools offer classes specifically designed to help business people learn German. These include classes dealing with speaking on the telephone, negotiations and presentations.

2. Learn German For Travel
In addition to the three major European countries where German is a native language, German is a second language for many countries across Eastern Europe. Those planning to travel in Romania, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Russia or Kazakhstan may find it useful to learn German to communicate in those regions. There are many websites that offer free language lessons to help travelers learn basic German phrases. However, for a more intensive course, travelers could learn German in Berlin or another part of Germany.

3. Learn German For Tourism
With three major language centers and many other German-speaking regions, German is a key language for those seeking to work in the tourist industry. Some German language schools offer courses aimed at professionals in different industries which will also help those in the tourist trade. This is key not just for those planning to work within Germany, but for those planning to work with the millions of German-speaking tourists who travel the globe each year.

4. Learn About German Culture
German culture is more than beer and lederhosen. Germany has a rich cultural heritage. Many great thinkers, such as Freud and Einstein, were German. Many of the most respected classical composers came from Germany. There is a lot to do in Germany, from exploring towns with a centuries-old history to seeing the wonders of modern engineering technology. Those who study in Germany will find that this gives an inside view of many aspects of German culture.

Where Should I Learn German?
Although there are plenty of German classes available in most countries, a good option is to study in Germany at a German language school. This means that students will learn by immersion, hearing German spoken both inside and outside the classroom. This is a good way to learn German fast and correctly. There are German language schools around the country. One option is to study in Berlin. Not only does Berlin have many universities and educational institutions, but it also has a rich cultural history and many sights to see. This makes study in Berlin a good option for learning German.

Sam Vogel writes about German language and German culture.
