How to Register a New Domain Name

Posted on June 30th, 2006. About Computers.

By Bruce Hearder

Registering a domain name is seen by many newcomers to the web as a really complicated, highly technical task that the average mortal cannot do.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

You only need to bits of information on hand when you register your domain name:

- What you are going to call this domain

- and your web hosting DNS values, these are give to you by your hosting company and look something like:
NS1.WEBSITEWELCOM.COM and
NS2.WEBSITEWELCOME.COM

They are almost always provided to you in pairs.

So first go to a reputable domain name registrar.
I suggest using either www.Better-Domain-Names.com or www.Godaddy.com

These may not be the cheapest registrars currently on the web but their service, and reliability are incredible. I generally work on the principle “You get what you pay for”, and never a truer thing can be said about domain name registrars.

OK, lets walk through the process of registering a domain name:

Using your web browser, visit a domain registrar. Usually on the front page there is a search option to check if the domain name you want is available.

Lets say for example, that you are trying to register a domain name for your Dog Training website.

So you type in dogtraining.com press enter, and it comes back that that domain is already take.
Now, I would suggest that you place prefix and or suffix words to the domain name you are after.
So you could try:

betterdogtraining.com
bestdogtraining.com
dogtrainingnewsletter.com
dogtraininganswers.com

You could also try placing dashes “-” in your domain names to separate words.
Admittedly, there are a group of search engine optimization people who currently believe that the search engines are now starting to penalize sites with ‘dashes” in them.
Another thing, sites that do not contain dashes and do not have any numbers in them, generally seller for a higher price.
So if you think you might sell your domain sometime in the future, then it may be advisable to avoid using both dashes and numbers.

Lets say, that you find dogtraininganswers.com is available.
So you move to the next page. Generally this asks you for the details of the person that is going to be the owner of this domain. Generally this will be your name, address, phone number etc.

Next the system will ask you for how long you want to register your domain for, the minimum period is 1 year and the maximum I have seen is 10 years. Most people go for the 1 year period, only because it costs the least.
On the Better-Domain-names.com screen and the Godaddy.com page, you will see a link that says:
“If hosting your site elsewhere, please click here to set name servers”

Please set your name servers now (using the name server values given to you by your hosting company), otherwise if you have to come back and change the default name servers at a later date. the problem is that it generally takes a long time for the name servers to propagate around the net and you could wait several days for this to happen. But if you set them now, they should propagate within a few minutes, maybe half an hour at the most.

Once you have keyed in *both* name servers values, you then move onto the payment screen where you key in your credit card details.

Here you may see an option called “Auto Renew”. Check this box!
This allows you to renew the domain automatically when its term expires. Any good domain name registrar should send you an multiple emails before the domain is set to expire, and if you take no action on these emails, then the domain will get automatically renewed.
If you don’t set this “Auto renew” option, then system will let the domain lapse and it becomes available for some else to purchase.

Once you press the “submit” button, it will take just a few seconds for that new domain name to be yours.

Google Search Engine Marketing - maximize search engine revenue

Posted on June 29th, 2006. About Computers.

Learn How to Use Google search engine marketing to start making money today:

(This article with active links can be seen at http://aerohost.com/google-search-engine-marketing.htm)

The Google search engine has risen to prominence because they made it fast with an uncluttered interface, and kept the search results relevant. With the introduction of paid PPC advertising, they have created an economic boom on the internet that allows anyone with a website to participate.

Without any gimmicks, you can have a high ranking page in Google, just by following a few prudent design rules and creating relevant content based on your keyword research. In this article we’ll show you an example of how we did it with one of our websites, Software For Homes.

I created the Software For Homes website (http://SoftwareForHomes.com) at the turn of the century to demonstrate how easy and inexpensive it is to automate your own home, without running any wires, using the powerful X10 software and control systems.

I used to be a video technician back in the late 60’s, and I dove into the HDTV home theater environment a few years later, adding a section to the Software For Homes website about my personal experience setting up a home theater.

Note: A First Class Education on How Search Engines Work:

Google Adsense and Adwords are not necessarily the best way to make money on the net. The payout per click has dropped dramatically, and all their strategies are designed to get you to pay more money for Adwords campaigns. There are better affiliate programs that pay much higher, and free blogging is an excellent way to generate an income online. We highly recommend Rob Benwell’s ebook ‘Blogging to the Bank’. His 7 step blueprint will show you step by step exactly how to do it - it’s worth every penny and will save you countless hours of trial and error. We’ve used it and it works; we recovered our investment in 2 days! Got an existing website? Drive traffic to it with your blogs … more info at:

Content is King for Search Engines

Search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN love fresh, original content and my best advice is to choose a topic for your new website or page that you have specific interests in. You’ll always produce a better, more interesting article if it’s a subject that you can write about with some passion.

Don’t duplicate or copy other work - make it as original as you can. There are plenty of pre-packaged websites available online that can be purchased inexpensively, but be prepared to rework them substantially if you go this route, as search engines don’t like duplicate content. Often, it’s just as much work to modify an existing site as it is to simply write your own - and your own copy will always do better.

You should also consider personalizing your pages, so that your audience knows there is a real person behind the website. Search engines won’t rank your site differently around this point, but your readers will likely appreciate it more. Ultimately, you’ll get more links from other sites, which will improve your search engine standing.
Keyword Research is Extremely Important

I can’t overemphasize this point! Once you have chosen your topic, the very first thing to do is make a list of the top keywords relating to internet searches around that particular topic. Then, use that list to create EVERYTHING associated with your website or page, including:

- domain name (if it’s a new website)
- folder and file names (put keywords in there)
- Title, Description and Keyword meta tags
- Pix file names, ALT tags (mytopic.jpg NOT logo.jpg)
- Page header tags and text content

Don’t fly blind with guesswork on this - it is so very critical, and I highly recommend you get a keyword analyzer and research tool, such as the Keywords Analyzer program that we use (see the Software Download section at http://Aerohost.com).

MSN has the fastest index update these days, especially if you are creating a new website, so be sure to tell them about your new page or site with this link:

http://search.msn.com/docs/submit.aspx?FORM=WSDD2

Page Structure is Critical

Try and keep your website as simple and uncluttered as possible - avoid using frames if you can, and use a text based menu system (image scripts don’t get indexed) when possible. We use the XSitePro authoring program as it creates very search engine friendly web pages. Here are some page structure guidelines:

Put your primary keywords into the domain name and page filenames.
Put your primary keywords into the tag, make it about 7 words.
Work the same keywords into the tag, about 25 words.
Insert the main keywords and keyword phrases into the tag, about 10 to 20 words.
Insert your header logo, give it a file name with the keywords in it (NOT something like ‘logo.jpg’)
Edit the ‘Alt’ tag of the header logo so that it contains your keyword phrases.
Change the header tag under the logo so that it contains your keywords

Write the main body of text, making sure you start off with your keywords at the beginning. Don’t repeat them more than once or twice within the main body of text, around 500 words should be fine. Be sure to factor in the space required for ad insertion in your page design. Use section headers like

Insert some pictures into the text body and use keywords in the file name and ‘Alt’ tag.

Get Powerful Reporting and Statistics for your Site

There’s not much point doing all this if you can’t monitor your progress and test the results of different optimization techniques. With our sophisticated live statistics system, you can see real-time information about your visitors, allowing you to optimize your ‘Internet presence’ with an informed search engine strategy. See statistics such as:

-Visitor location and exact search phrase keywords.
-What they are looking at and how long they stayed.

You just listed your site with Google and you want to see the impact? Just ran an autoresponder campaign? Or perhaps you launched a Google AdWords campaign to generate instant high volume traffic? Watch the curve climb immediately with Live Stats. Switch to monthly, weekly and daily graphs to see more detail - track all data, including unique visitor sessions as per graph sample above. Say goodbye to cryptic log files.

Spend Some Money on Information and Sound Advice

If you’re new to PPC advertising, the best primer on Google AdWords I’ve seen is by Perry Marshall. He shows how to use AdWords to great advantage, well worth the money! The Definitive Guide - 35 examples, 8 industries & fast-start toolkit. If you’re going to buy some expert help, these folks are the best at explaining exactly how to maximize results with AdWords and Adsense.

Will you make money? Yes, you actually can. Realistically, it probably won’t be much until you get good at it, but like anything else, practice makes perfect. At first, I made maybe $50 per month with the Software For Homes website, but that quickly increased and these days it generates about $1,500 to $2,000 per month.

Note: Google Adsense and Adwords are not necessarily the best way to make money on the net. I’ve used it and it works! More info:

Here’s a recap of the products we recommend you add to your toolkit (all of which we use that easily pay for themselves):

Keywords Analyzer - The Keywords Analyzer program will very quickly find those critical product areas and keywords that can generate a lot of cash. This is one of those fabled KILLER APPS, we use it all the time. You can download it here and get started immediately. If you only spend some money on one thing, this should be it!

XSite Pro - new in 2005, Paul Smithson & Intellimon Ltd created XSite Pro, an affordable, very easy to use premium web site design and management tool that is a truly comprehensive alternative to authoring programs such as Microsoft FrontPage and Macromedia’s Dream Weaver. XSitePro combines and automates all web management features such as page layout, web design with keyword and search engine optimization, navigation menu structures, Google AdSense ads, affiliate links, site maps, pop-up generators, audio recording, testimonials, page redirects, custom code libraries, site maps (including the new Google XML format that Google loves to use), robot spidering control, backup management, server uploading/publishing and many other functions … download and get more info:

Computer Parts - No More a Hidden Business

Posted on June 28th, 2006. About Computers.

Computer parts are an important peripheral for any business houses today. Computer hardware is the physical part of a computer, including the digital circuitry, as distinguished from the computer software that executes within the hardware.

The use of computer is endless you can use a computer for printing reports, documents, publishing newsletters or for just printing photos. The hardware of a computer is infrequently changed, in comparison with software and data, which are “soft” in the sense that they are readily created, modified or erased on the computer.

Most computer hardware is not seen by normal users. It is in embedded systems in automobiles, microwave ovens, electrocardiograph machines, compact disc players, and other devices.

PC hardware:

A typical personal computer consists of a case or chassis in desktop or tower shape and the following parts:

Motherboard: The Motherboard is possibly the most important part of the computer. The motherboard is the foundation of any PC. All the critical subsystems, including the CPU, system chipset, memory, system I/O, expansion bus, and other critical components run directly off the motherboard. Likewise, the interconnections among these components are laid into the motherboard itself. It slots for expansion cards and holding parts including :

- Central Processing Unit(C P U): It is the core of computer, it control the main processing process.

- Random Access Memory (RAM): It is for Program execution and short term data storage.

- Basic Input-Output System (BIOS): All Computer Hardware . has to work with software through an interface. The BIOS gives the computer a little built-in starter kit to run the rest of software’s from floppy disks (FDD) and hard disks (HDD). The BIOS is responsible for booting the computer by providing a basic set of instructions.

- Keyboard: The keyboard is one of the simplest parts of the computer to understand. This chapter goes beyond the keyboard basics, however, to show you how to do tasks such as inserting special characters or typing in another language. This chapter also looks at how to take care of your keyboard and how to take care of yourself when using it.

- Power supply - A case that holds a transformer, voltage control and fan.

- Storage controllers : It is of IDE, SATA, SCSI or other type, that control hard disk, floppy disk, CD-ROM and other drives; the controllers sit directly on the motherboard (on-board) or on expansion cards

- Video display controller: It produces the output for the computer display.

- CD - the most common type of removable media, cheap but fragile.

Low Cost Web Hosting by B2rhosting.com

Posted on June 27th, 2006. About Computers.

Low Cost Web Hosting by B2rhosting.com

Statistics show that the primary concern of most web hosting seekers out there is the cost of the web hosting. The price tag is what most people is concerned about. In reality the price of the hosting package is only half the worry. The other half is a plethora of options and services, features and offers that not only confuse a beginner mind but also mislead them with numerous technicalities. Choosing the best web hosting is a perfect balance of required features and the right price. In this article I am going to guide you through the process of choosing the cheapest but also the best web hosting service you possibly can. Like I mentioned before, there is a very thin line between choosing a great web host or a demon from hell. Believe me just as a great web hosting can be the most pleasant and rewarding experience, a bad web hosting service could be a nightmare you just won’t be able to wake up from. In this article I am going to share the knowledge and experience that I gained over the years and the mistakes that I made, so you don’t have to go through it all.
The first step in choosing the best, low cost web host is the acquisition of as much knowledge and information about the general topic of web hosting as you possibly can. This information and knowledge is going to be your best friend in the journey towards finding the best and cheapest web host out there. When you thoroughly know and understand all the web hosting concepts and terms, only then you would be able to decide your requirements and the options and features you need for your web site.
Do not jump at the sight of a $2 per month web hosting service and sign up with your eyes closed. Believe me I did it and it was a hellish experience. Be realistic, web hosts so cheap can never hope to provide good, let alone best, service. These web hosts are often down, do not offer quality customer support, are very slow and may have outdated software which can compromise the integrity and security of your web site.
Trim your fat. Do not get hosting packages with features you do not require or have no idea what they are. Do not get features simply because you have heard a lot about them and you think having them in your hosting package is professional or cool or important. Know what you need and only get that. It saves a lot of money. In the beginning, for my first 4-5 pages website, I got hosting packages that included databases, email forwarding, CGI, a large web space, high bandwidth, additional scripts and programs and a lot of other unnecessary elements that I had no idea what to do with, and only because I thought I might need them for my website some time later. Do not do that, whenever your needs increase your available resources or options or features, almost all web hosts offer the option of upgrading your existing web hosting account to include the newer elements that you now require.
Do not consider yourself a customer who is bound to have a bad experience only because you are in search of low cost or cheap web hosting. So, expect to have great web hosting support even when you are paying small bucks, all customers are to be treated the same way, so if a web host has good technical support, it is good for everyone, or is supposed to be. So do not be shy to contact them and talk to them as many times as you would want. Ask them questions about all your concerns and doubts, and keep asking until you are not truly satisfied. As a customer you are eligible for best technical support, so make sure it is available before you make a hosting decision.
Go for shared web hosting. Shared web hosting is the common preference of most web hosting buyers. Shared web hosting not only takes your web hosting costs to a considerable low level, it also is a great choice in terms of support and less technicalities. Shared hosting is pre-configured and good to go, while the other type of web hosting available; the Dedicated hosting, is not only expensive but also is a whole lot more technical. When cheap web hosting is your preference, there is no better option than the shared web hosting.
Keep searching for a good and really cheap web host, because I know that they do exist. So you might be thinking right now, hey if you know all that and you know any good and cheap web hosts, why don’t you tell us?, That is because everyone’s definition of cheap is different with respect to the features they require, e.g. I might think that for me cheap web hosting is $0.5 per month and if I tell you a web host that is cheap by my standard and offer web hosting for $0.5 per month, you might say dude I asked for cheap, not a scam. So everyone’s idea of cheap is different, so would your be. But keep looking, and you might someday find the best, cheapest web host out there.

WiMAX Equipment market to cross $ 3.2 billion by 2010

Posted on June 26th, 2006. About Computers.

It is anybody’s guess what the chances are of service providers earning profitable returns from the money invested on the communication equipments and networks of the WiMAX system? Market research firm RNCOS in its recently published report “WiMAX Market Forecast (2006-2010)”, thinks that there are three ways they can achieve this end without ruining their present businesses. The first two ways advise raising money for investment and the third way suggests the cutting down of costs.

The report further claims that the WiMAX technology scores over the other traditional wireless or wire-line technologies, with its leverages in pliability, mobility and cost. Thus the WiMAX service providers easily out maneuver the traditional wireless operators in the area of market share. An international synchronization of the spectrum enough to permit manufacturers to produce equipments in a large scale, at reduced costs is the greatest trial for the industry.

An excellent opportunity to expand the already established market for fixed, portable and mobile broadband access is provided by WiMAX, which is a more innovative and financially feasible variant. Although WiMAX has immense prospects but it must clear a few hurdles before becoming the only universal broadband wireless operating system. To begin with, it has to resolve certain issues regarding the existing quality of mobility along with the accessibility of the WiMAX equipments. It also has to tackle the preliminary high cost of its products and then choose on a consistent spectrum distribution.

According to the report by RNCOS, the market for WiMAX certified equipment subscriber units and base installations evaluated to be worth $ 41Mn in 2005 is estimated to surge up to $ 3.3Bn through 2010.

The report also projects the increase in the markets of fixed/ portable broadband communication equipments evaluated presently at $560Mn to climb up to $2.1Bn through 2010. The report further provides aggressive forecasts the price of subscriber units to drop to less than $100 by 2010. The existing price of the units stands at around $500.

The biggest drawback in the implementation of the WiMAX networks is the territorial irregularities in the spectrum rules and the challenges put up by other new forthcoming (next generation) mobile technologies. The report gives an insight into the area wise distribution of the WiMAX market spread across the world. The real success of WiMAX will depend upon new and existing mobile operator’s performance and economical improvements over existing 3G technologies, especially in its ability to deliver ARPU-attractive, multimedia services.

The wireless telecommunication market in the Asia/ Pacific region will witness more than 80,000 subscribers accept the WiMAX, constituting nearly 41% of the world’s subscribers. By 2009 the subscriber base worldwide is estimated to rise up to 3.8Bn comprising 45% of the market share. The report also gives the profiles of the 10 leading service providers of WiMAX.

Choosing the Best Voip Solution for Small Business

Posted on June 25th, 2006. About Computers.

In today’s world, it seems that almost any topic is open for debate. While I was gathering facts for this article, I was quite surprised to find some of the issues I thought were settled are actually still being openly discussed.

One of the major problems that small business encounters involves telecommunication. They may encounter problems in calling long distance either through domestic or international schemes. Long distance calls, especially, can cost a small business quite an ample sum.

It will depend on what kind of small business you are involved in whether to install long distance scheme or not. Long distance can make your small business successful depending on how you are going to deal with it.

The most competitive in the market is the telecommunication market. In everyday of out living, the rate of the domestic long distance, international long distance and the local are falling. The best way to be successful in your small business in terms of the phone system is the VoIP which stands for Voice over Internet Protocol.

At the present, there are too many advertisements and publicity about the VoIP or the VoIP over Broad band. Many people say that VoIP is the future of telecommunication. Many declare that it will be the ultimate replacement of already obsolete analog phone calls still existing.

If all these things that have been said are true, how can you have a right decision as an entrepreneur the best thing for you? The very first thing you have to do if you do not have any detail of information about VoIP then educate your self.

Read and gather data that will help you to gain knowledge about VoIP. There are two things that you also need to consider in order for you to avail the best quality of VoIP. First is the level of investment and second, the cost and the quality.

Truthfully, the only difference between you and voip experts is time. If you’ll invest a little more time in reading, you’ll be that much nearer to expert status when it comes to voip.

To extract the maximum potential of the VoIP, you must invest in internet protocol phones as well as the internet protocol PBX. However, if you don’t, then you will be using the IP phone adaptors that enable you to maintain whatever system you already have and also give you the chance to convert theses phone lines to VoIP.

Some businessmen does not want a one hundred percent of VoIP. On the other hand they are enjoying all the benefits from it. This is the reason why the IP adaptors are very famous at the present time.

In terms of the cost and the quality, it is very clear that before choosing the right phone system for you business you must have first asses what does your business needs and wants.

You should get the best quality of phone system if your business is dealing and making use of phones every time there is a transaction. They are very useful for those business that prospect customers on the phone, giving out information by means of phone and giving a customer support using the phone.

If you are using the phone just for short communications like calling your business partners or agents then you should transfer to those low cost phones in order for you to save more.

On the other hand, if you are just about to start your own small business the VoIP offers a small solution that you can use in your business. It is the use of the VoIP phone cards. You can use this temporarily and as the time evolves and your business becomes a success, you can always change it to a better system

Despite of which VoIP phone system you prefer for your small business, see to it that you are getting more money that you have spend for the long distance and always remember that the reason for having a good phone system is to express and communicate yourself.

When word gets around about your command of voip facts, others who need to know about voip will start to actively seek you out.

WiMAX to constitute a major share of wireless broadband market

Posted on June 24th, 2006. About Computers.

WiMAX is all set to hit the fixed access market for the time being whereas the basic & full mobility WiMAX is the goal for the year 2010. The kind of enthusiasm that WiMAX has instilled amongst the businesses as well as individuals isn’t just for the wired version of the technology; Wireless WiMAX is where most of the silicon and large-scale equipment makers seem to be more interested in investing.

Setting up a broadband connection through Digital Subscriber Line or DSL includes heavy installation charges. WiMAX, on the other hand, is a comparatively less expensive alternative to DSL, as it doesn’t require any modem or cables to get a WiMAX connection. The maintenance cost is also reduced with WiMAX connection.

As per the market research report titled “WiMAX Market Forecast (2006-2010)” published by RNCOS, it is predicted that the “WiMAX and other emerging high-speed wireless technologies will capture more than 42% of the wireless broadband business over the next few years, whilst 3G will have to content with less than 59% of the market in 2009.”

The report covers every significant aspect of WiMAX technology such as the latest WiMAX market trends, the standards followed, the spectrum allocations and its functioning & implementation etc. The report also covers various benefits of WiMAX technology such as performance, coverage and so on.

Discussing the future market scope for WiMAX, the report estimates “The comparatively better performance and flexibility of WiMAX will enable this technology to takeover the high-speed wireless segment in the next 3 years. Though 3G will be important for its mobility, WiMAX will directly compete with DSL.”

The report suggests that approximately half of the world consumer market will be captured by Wireless Networking standard 802.11n in the next 2-3 years. According to the report, WiMAX will be the most popular standard in the coming years.

For all those tech savvy guys out there the report offers a complete overview of the latest technology known as WiMAX. The report talks about several applications of this technology. Besides discussing the various facets of WiMAX, the report also provides a list of the technologies that pose challenge to WiMAX.

WiMAX being the center of attention for all, it’s a true challenge for the observers to mark a difference between the myths & facts associated with this technology. The report provides with important topics such as the difference between fixed & mobile WiMAX while also discusses the availability and timing, spectrum challenges and the global approach of WiMAX.

Satellite Communication Security

Posted on June 23rd, 2006. About Computers.

Communications Intelligence (COMINT) involving the covert interception of foreign communications has been practiced by almost every advanced nation since international telecommunications became available. COMINT is a large-scale industrial activity providing consumers with intelligence on diplomatic, economic and scientific developments.

Various communication intelligence equipments have been and are been designed in order to provide all with a secure communication channel. As satellite communications is growing day by day and is taking the major seat in the global communication network, products are being designed keeping the Security issue in mind.

One of the fast developing technologies in Communication industry provides secure solutions through VSAT Interception, Monitoring and logging systems.

The system is designed for real time collection and traffic analysis of VSAT Satellite Networks. It would provide for total traffic (Voice/ FAX, Data and Multimedia) analysis of TDM/TDMA and SCPC DAMA systems.

Further the system is based on a modular hardware and software architecture, allowing the end customer the flexibility of processing multiple channels simultaneously. The system also provides a GUI for all functions such as equipment control, monitoring, storage etc.

Such a system would be very beneficial and useful especially for the government organizations working for the Defense, as it would have the capability of monitoring the overall target VSAT systems traffic analysis of data, voice and multimedia.

The system is a total integrated and engineered solution for the purpose of monitoring, analysis and processing of multiple target VSAT stations from one remote site.

In case of TDM/TDMA networks, the system provides generic monitoring and processing capability for inbound/outbound traffic.

Such systems provide us with a Secure Gateway for any type of communication, let it be Voice, Data, Fax or multimedia.
