How to Sort out a Golf Slice - 4 Keys to Fixing a Golf Slice

Key 1-Grip
Many amateurs, in a futile attempt, to copy their professional heroes assume a grip that is suited to a, well, a professional. Amateurs must understand that the pro golfer has been striking golf balls from a very early age. And millions of golf balls. So they have a fast hand action and release through impact that they don't have to labor at.

They do it subconsciously, without thinking, because of the millions of balls they have hit and don't have to think about it. But the amateur golfer, with a job and a family and other demands on his time, may well get into trouble with this ultra neutral grip and will see better results with a strong grip. A strong grip is one which involves you turning both hands to the right on the grip of the club..and the 'v' formed by the thumb and first finger should point to the right shoulder, or even further right if you are trying to fix a bad slice.

Key 2-Swing Path
A lot of the time the slice is caused by a cutting action across the ball, with the path of the swing from outside the ball target line to inside this line in the through swing. This swing path must be corrected and you will have to swing from in to square to in or even from in to out initially if you have a bad case of the slice or banana ball. There is no doubt whatsoever that if you employ a strong grip and an inside to out swing you will NOT slice the ball. Indeed you will start hitting a hook pretty soon. But the extra distance you will gain will make your corrections to fix a golf slice well worth while.

Key 3 - Fix your set up
It is no secret that standing open in your set up will promote an out to in swing which in turn will give you that dreaded distance sapping slice.
So make sure that your set up and alignment are spot on ie place a club along your toe line and make sure that it is running parallel, like rail tracks, with an imaginary line from your ball to the target.
Initially you can even exaggerate this to fix your slice by standing a little closed ie with your right foot drawn back behind the left so that the line would be pointing right of the target.

Key 4 - Swing from in to out, not out to in.
If you can imagine the face of a clock superimposed on the ground in the hitting area with 12 o'clock at the end where the target is then rather than aiming to swing from 6 o'clock to 12 o'clock, try swinging from 8 o'clock to 2 o'clock.
This will have you swinging from in to out, rather than out to in, giving you a powerful draw.
