This man would rise to be seen as the founder of Ukrainian modern literature, but then a painter and poet known as Taras Shevchenko would arrive and reinvigorate national pride in the language and the population's creative pursuits through his own creations. There would come a great deal of ups and downs for native writing in the land as ruling regimes changed down through the eras. During periods when the language was forbidden, authors of the Ukraine would create their titles in some other land. Stunningly, the restriction never was struck down but grew powerless thanks to a change of leadership. Something you can proudly proclaim relating to the wordsmiths of this impressive land is that they have struggled to keep their way of being viable via the written word. They have altered themselves when they had to in order to survive, and they have held strong when they needed to ensure the writing of Ukraine was not forgotten.
