Sonora, Yucatan, Acapulco, Costa Alegre, Puerto Penasco and Bahia Concepcion

By: Gene Schwerman

Sonora, Yucatan, Acapulco, Mexico and Baja California, are all prime examples of areas in Mexico, where you might not expect to find prime land to develop but where surprisingly many great parcels remain. While it is not generally understood, Real Estate in Mexico is still one of the hottest investment opportunities in the world. Even Oceanfront land in the developing areas such as Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point) in Sonora, Bahia Concepcion in Baja California, and other similar developments is still a plentiful commodity available at a small percentage of the price one would expect to pay in other, already more highly developed areas.

One trip along either of the western coasts of Mexico will convince even the novice investor of the serious nature of the opportunity surrounding investment in Mexico. For example, there is a small area called Costa Alegre in Jalisco just outside of Puerto Vallarta which is now one of the best real estate investments in Mexico. It is one of those areas where you can see it's starting to happen before your very eyes but currently there is still much more undeveloped land than that which is already developed or currently being developed.

Now let us suppose for a moment that you are one of the baby boomer residents of the United States perhaps five to 10 years away from full retirement. Your business is going good but you are starting to get a bit tired. Then, lets suppose, because you read this article, you decide to take a look at Costa Alegre. Please, do not be offended when I tell you, you are smarter than you look. Because, no matter how good you still look, you are way smarter still. If you happen to be smart enough to actually buy some land in Costa Alegre, you are downright brilliant and you are quite the opportunist. If you simply sit on that land until it's time to retire, it could very easily be the best single investment of your life.

As we inch ever closer to the "global village" envisioned by earlier great thinkers, we are increasingly aware of barriers being torn down or set aside. Language barriers, International borders, trade restrictions, even social customs are all moving in the direction of compatibility and increased acceptance. When Beijing, China can host throngs of citizens from the USA, allowing them to tour the forbidden city and Marvel at the cosmopolitan nature of the once reclusive Chinese, perhaps it is time for a baby boomer in Minnesota to take a trip to Costa Alegre in sunny Mexico and buy some land.
