This part 2 covers the remaining three skills: management, marketing and customer relations skills to help small business owners to attain business profitability. Management Skills Required To Reach Business Profitability Being prepared to reach business profitability demands that you effectively manage your business' daily operations. You are the one that will create and oversee each business process, determine how business information is distributed, and provide leadership and team building for your employees. Your business' success depends on you. Whether it runs smoothly to business profitability, or hiccups its way to a permanent "closed "sign is totally up to you. Even if you are a great manager, you still have to market well in order for your business to arrive at business profitability. Marketing Skills Required To Reach Business Profitability Small business marketing is often the responsibility of the business owner. If that's true in your business, then marketing is one of your most important skills. It's marketing that generates leads. Your business and sales leads depend on your ability to market well enough to bring new customers to your business. Without marketing and marketing leads you don't get customers. Without customers, you won't earn enough income to cover your business expenses. Without more income than expenses, your business can never attain business profitability. You have to know how to create successful business advertising, promotions and public relations in order to attract new customers. Then you have to establish good customer relations in order to create customer loyalty and repeat sales. Customer Relations Skills You'll Need To Attain Business Profitability You need the skill to work with, and get feedback from, your customers. It's best to implement systems to assure that you are constantly surveying your customers for their opinions about your business and its products and services. And don't be intimidated by customer complaints. Instead see them as an opportunity to improve your business. Your customers will provide the information you need to enhance customer satisfaction and retention. You just have to provide a system for them to do it comfortably. Good customer service systems and policies will help customer relations, encourage repeat sales, and provide additional income. Synthesis You need to develop your skills in management, marketing, customer relations, idea generation, planning, and handling business finances if you are to attain business profitability. But even with if you have developed these skills, you still need to establish a business profitability goal. It's your destination. Without its guidance, you may not reach business profitability.
