Recently I was hired by a large accounting firm as a consultant for a 12-month long assignment. My company specializes in accounting, tax auditing and consulting. My assignment involved auditing one of the government agency business units. Six months into my assignment unexpectedly I got a called from the company HR director. He demanded to see me right away. During our conversation he mentioned that under company policies they are required to run an annual credit checks on all employees working with clients in the government sector. Apparently, when my company had pulled my credit report they found a few derogatory items on my credit profile. My poor credit was endangering my job position and I needed to take care of this issue. I was given an ultimatum, clean up my personal credit report immediately if I wanted to remain as a consultant and employee of the company or not to report to work anymore. They gave me sixty days to take care of this issue. There's not a whole lot you can do to straighten up your credit within two months. Most of the derogatory marks in my credit report were mainly in part to me not paying back my school loans in time. Armed with that information, I immediately I turned to the internet for help with this situation. While searching the internet, I couldn’t help but noticed the large amount of sites willing to help you with your credit situation. Many of the sites I found didn’t look very business lucrative. But after due diligence I ran into an excellent site called creditdemystified.com. This web site helped me tremendously with free tools such as credit repair and debt-consolidation workbooks. After contacting the 3 major credit bureaus and following the recommendation of these free tools on creditdemystified.com I was able to successfully correct and remove the blemishes off my credit profile within the given period. One thing I realized after the fact is that you don’t have to work directly for the government to be affected by credit checks. A year later, I was still with the same company and I received a promotion within my department. This experience helped me not only to payoff all of my loan debts, but also clear them off from my credit report. Because our credit history plays such a big role in many areas of our lives, making sure that the credit report is accurate helps manage and accomplish all your financial and personal goals.
