Make and Market Your Own Ebook

Just about anyone can create an Internet marketing ebook. All you have to do is read some poor-quality Internet marketing articles, re-hash the material, put it into PDF format, and use bold, size 36 font to artificially boost the page count. After a single night of frantic paraphrasing and borderline-plagiarism, you should have a poor-quality PDF that you can trick at least a few people into buying.

Next, they get started on a salespage that is brimming over with trickery and falsehoods. If they don't outright fabricate screenshots and testimonials, they find other, more subtle ways to do the exact same things. They'll accept bogus testimonials from people who want backlinks and flat out lie about the amount of money people can make performing some task. Usually, they'll extrapolate small earnings to massive earnings - even if they've never been able to take that process and work it through to the suggested possibilities.

You've seen this all before. You know the tricks. And you've been told to do the same thing. You've been told that the only way to make money with ebooks is to churn them out quickly; and spam-market them in any venue you can find. Of course, everyone saying this will try to be more subtle; however, the prescriptions they give you more or less amount to the same thing.

These tricks actually don't work. People who create these low-quality products and spam them all over the Internet generally do not make money. So don't do it. Instead, try to think longer term. Try to create quality products, so that people will actually refer them word-of-mouth to friends; and so that they will actually want to purchase your products in the future. Additionally, it will be far easier to sell people products if they actually can benefit from them.

Instead of doing all of this, start by figuring out a good topic you can cover in an ebook. Think of something that you and everyone else really need to understand better in order to be successful (or more successful) as an Internet marketer. Take joint ventures, for instance. If you were able to find 4-5 strong joint venture partners for each product you launched, you'd have no problem selling them.

Perhaps you struggle with finding freelance coders at a reasonable price who are also reliable. If this is the case, then the stage is already set for your ebook. All you have to do is conduct some research, figure out the many ways in which you can find a good coder; and then record your process as you hire them for various projects that you had to do, anyway. Take notes and screenshots as you go; and then make an ebook out of all of your records. When you're finished, download a copy of Open Office, copy and paste your document into the word processing program, format it; and then convert into PDF format by clicking the "PDF" icon.

Next, you will have to create a strong, compelling salespage for your ebook. This is another project in itself. I personally suggest getting some advice at the Success Doctor forums. Once you've completed your salespage, you will want to search around for a good place to sell. If you want to use affiliates, you should also start an account with Clickbank. You'll have to pay an initial $50 fee, but from there on, you (and your affiliates) will be able to use their link-creation and payment services - and that will help you to save a considerable amount of time.

In contrast (or in addition), you may want to setup a payment link through Paypal and then advertise in a bunch of smaller, better-targeted venues, such as forums. Since you're selling an IM product, your best bet may be the WSO section at Warrior Forum. Whatever you decide to do, keep the following strategy in mind: think long-term, sell things that people want, and find people who actually want to buy. You won't make $1,000,000 by 3PM tomorrow afternoon, but you may make it over the next couple of years.
