A property developer in England has had to stop work on the housing development at Crowley Hall, after claims of mysterious paranormal happenings. Steven Newton of Manchester, had recently bought Crowley Hall and intended to turn it into housing. It had previously been reported that his team of workers had found bones hidden behind a fireplace, enough for four human bodies. It was just after this finding that the haunting supposedly began. "Some of the events here have got so bad, that the builders I brought in, have refused to come back in the building. Rumours spread quickly, so it is becoming very difficult finding workers that will come here." An anonymous worker told us about the work he was doing on the flooring, when his toolbox slid across the floor and smashed against the wall. Some workers have also been pushed over by unseen forces. One of the workers was almost pushed down the stairs during a violent occurrence. It was when somebody found that they had been bitten, that it was decided to stop work there. Steven has had to call in experts to try and find the source of all the disturbances. "I called a team of ghost hunters after the police told me they could do nothing. To be honest, I think they thought me and the workers I employed were mad." Crowley Hall was built in the late nineteenth century. It has it's share of controversies during it's lifetime. At one time, it was being used as a mental asylum, under it's founder Dr. Bernard Leys. During an operation on one of his patients, Dr. Leys suffered a heart attack and died. Rumours quickly spread that Dr. Leys was practicing unsanctioned tests on his patients. These rumours were even more rife, when a fire destroyed all the records and notes of the tests conducted there. Crowley Hall lay abandoned for many years, before re-opening in 1970 as a children's hospital. There are a number of reported occurrences of strange paranormal happenings during it's time as a hospital. Paranormal activity got so bad at one point, that a spiritual medium was supposedly brought to the hall to cleanse it of all evil spirits. Again, this cannot be verified, although no further reports of paranormal activity have been reported after this supposed cleansing. The hospital was shut down gain when a bigger children's hospital was built nearby. Steven purchased the hall in 2005, and wasn't really a believer in the paranormal until now. He hopes that if the investigators can help to explain what's going on there, then he might be able to understand a little bit more of the afterlife, and continue with the work. "I just want to know what's happening here. Until then, I feel as though I am just going mad."
