An easy home improvement is to build a home theater system. For us it is a dream system but we have been conducted some research on the different systems. The options are many from what brand and style of TV display, dvd players, receiver console, speakers to data service providers.

Ok before we start we need to understand a few technical terms and standards to know how to build a home theater system. This can be an easy home improvement project.

A 1280 x 720 pixels TV with progressive scanning at 60 frames per second is called a 720p60 monitor. A 1920 x 1080 pixels TV with an interlaced scanning at 50 frames per second is called a 1080i50 monitor. Some of the newer HDTVs have a refresh rate of a 120 HZ or frames per second.

Picking the best home theater receiver for your home theater is a challenging effort. The price varies from a few hundred dollars to many thousands of dollars. How do you pick the right one for your home. Well first you need to understand what all the receiver can do and what you need to build a home theater.

Ok Blu-ray has won the battle for the next generation of DVD players. The Blu-ray DVD unit is still very costly. It may be over a year before the cost of these DVDs become more cost effective.

The kind of speaker system you get can be either a stereo system or a surround sound system. The surround sound system come in a number of versions. The current ones are a 5.1, 6.1 or 71. system. The size of your theater room will determine how large of a system you can use. You should size the system to your room.

The Telephone companies are adding fiber optic cable that will support internet access, telephone service and video. So this is another choice for a distribution system of either fiber,cable or satellite.
