Conclusion for Desperate Housewives Cliffhanger Nowhere In Sight

By: Groshan Fabiola

Last night's Desperate Housewives featured a tornado hitting Wisteria Lane and wreaking havoc all over the place. The disaster cost two lives and ended the episode in a cliffhanger, but fans will have to wait for an indefinite period of time to watch part two of the two-hour long special of Desperate Housewives.

Filming the two-hour episode of Desperate Housewives was completed prior to the writers' strike, which began on November 5. However, creator Mark Cherry wanted to the exciting conclusion to be the freshman episode for the new batch of episodes coming soon. This means that the new episode will only air after the writers' strike gets resolved.

Fans of Desperate Housewives would be disappointed to hear this and carry the burden of waiting for their favorite show's new plot to be resolved, especially after the death of two very controversial characters due to the tornado. The tornado swept the lives of Victor and Sylvia, but we are still left to ponder on what had happened to the other characters. Last night's episode left us with a question on whether or not Lynette's family survived, and what will become of Mrs. McCluskey now that her house is wrecked.

Mark Cherry revealed that the inspiration for the tornado story came after he saw the reaction towards last season's hostage crisis episode, which left viewers at the edge of their seats. The episode featured Lynette being shot while other characters were killed.

"It taught me the value of doing something exciting," Cherry said. He added that a natural disaster proves "a perfect backdrop so that the stakes are high for everyone on every single level."

For now, fans of Desperate Housewives will have to wait for the conclusion of the two-hour episode, which hopefully would air soon.
