3D Pictures With Anaglyph 3D Glasses

By: Joe Healy

3D Glasses used In DVD & Blu-Ray home release of theatrical 3D films. Disney studios is releasing its first Blu-ray 3D disk August 2008, Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert. In July of 2008, the Disney Channel showed this using red-cyan paper 3D glasses.
In the blu-ray release, similar 3D glasses will more than likely be used. Thanks to Disney’s research, and the greater clarity of blue-ray, there have been great improvements in red-cyan anaglyph 3D glasses, particularly as they relate to the close overlay of 3D images, like Disney uses in their animation products. In comparison with the old-fashioned polarized or anaglyph technique, most Disney theatrical 3D images display much less mal-registration.

What makes 3D Anaglyph Glasses function?

3D glasses with the appropriate colored lenses lets you view anaglyphs because each eye sees a picture that's slightly different. For example, in a red-blue anaglyph 3D glasses, the eye that is covered by the red filter will see red parts of an image as white whereas it will see the blue parts as black. (with the brain providing some adaption for color)When you cover the eye with the blue filter, you will see the opposite effect. Pure black or white areas could be perceived the same by every eye The brain notices that each eye sees a different image, assumes that this is the result of different distances, and blends them together. A normal stereograph image is created without the viewer having to cross their eyes.
